Itzel Herrera Garcia (they/she) supports the Urban Farming Institute (UFI) team as the Community Education Liaison. They became involved with farming a few years ago when learning about food sovereignty as a decolonial movement. The more they learned, the more empowering it felt to show up with communities doing the work that honor the various intersections between land, culture, and justice. Aside from farming, Itzel is a dancer and passionate about the arts as a way of fostering spaces of vulnerability, play, and relationship building. They love thunderstorms, bubbles, and exploring ways of thinking, knowing, and being that are rooted in our liberation.
