Careers and Volunteer Opportunities

Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture and eager to make a positive impact in our community?

Our organization is built upon the belief that urban farming can transform lives and neighborhoods. We invite you to be a part of this transformative journey as a volunteer, where you'll have the chance to learn, grow, and contribute to our thriving urban farms.

As we continue to expand our mission, any upcoming job opportunities will be posted here as well.

Youth Education

At UFI we strive to include youth in all our farm programs because we believe that no community wellness movement or land-based project is complete without the voices and participation of young people. During the school year, we partner with schools with the purpose of recultivating the role that food and land have in growing a healthier community, and over the summer we offer a 6-week immersive program for youth, known as The Garden.

The Garden

2025 applications open April 1st and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. Apply sooner to have a better chance of being accepted into the program!

The Garden is an immersive 6-week summer internship program for youth ages 14 and up from the Mattapan, Roxbury, and Dorchester neighborhoods. It's an opportunity for them to immerse themselves in hands-on learning, community engagement, and leadership development, while contributing to a meaningful movement towards a more sustainable future. School Year Programs

We partner with schools all 180 days of the school year to co-create custom programs that meet the needs of our communities. From classroom visits and field trips to designing a food-growing program of your own, our partnership model paired with our Young Farmers’ Curriculum includes something for everyone. Interested in Volunteering?

At UFI our goal is to bring people delicious food and healthy eating options, transforming neglected land in neighborhoods, and contributing to economic and environmental resilience by localizing the food system. We are a small team that depends on the support of our volunteers.
