Ashley Huff (they/them) is one of two Education Coordinators at UFI. Since they were little, Ash (they/them) has had a deep passion for how we care for ourselves and one another. It was at their Lola’s house, in her kitchen and under the guava tree in the backyard, where they began to understand that culturally relevant food and land have an essential role in our collective healing and self-alignment. This deep understanding and their intersectional identities as a queer, multiracial Black-Filipinx-Irish artist and birth worker inform their commitment to justice and liberation for the land, water, humans and beyond-humans. As a 2021 UFI Farmer Training Program graduate with over ten years of career experience in youth education and land stewardship, Ash dreams of serving their local community by co-creating educational experiences that show people that we are not separate from nature but are beautifully interwoven with it. When they’re not surrounded by plants and nature, you can usually find Ash making art, planning their next adventure with their family, or reading a book.
