UFI is seeking a Community Education Liaison plays a vital role in connecting our programs with the communities we serve. This position focuses on fostering relationships, building a stronger presence in our communities, and assisting in the coordination of educational initiatives. The ideal candidate is passionate about community empowerment, education, and collaboration. This is a full time, seasonal position from June – November.  

The salary range is $20.00 per hour - $24.00 per hour based on experience and background. This is a 5 day per week, in person position. 

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Work with the Deputy Executive Director and Education Coordinators to support the development and implementation of education programming. 

  • Lead and support workshops and hands-on activities designed to teach people about agriculture and sustainability. 

  • Collaborate with community partners, including but not limited to, organizations, schools, local government, and civic groups to increase awareness and participation. 

  • Identify opportunities for partnership growth and support partner capacity-building efforts by organizing and participating in partner meetings, community forums, and joint outreach activities. 

  • Work with production team to foster connections with neighborhood groups and stakeholders. 

  • Help facilitate communication and collaboration between community members and program staff to ensure responsiveness to local needs. 

  • Assist in creating culturally relevant educational materials and resources. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred 

  • Valid driver’s license required 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 

  • Experience in community engagement, outreach, and/or educational programming preferred 

  • Experience with farming/planting/growing assessment and planning and an interest in nature and exploration preferred 

  • Ability to interface and build relationships with diverse populations, including youth and teens, elders, program and farm partners, volunteers of all ages, neighbors, and community members. 

  • Ability to work both independently and in groups 

  • Strong organizational skills 

  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal.  

  • Resides in or is familiar with locations of our farms – Dorchester, Mattapan and/or Roxbury - preferred.
