Young Farmers Project 2026 Highlights

The 2026 Young Farmers Project participants, affectionately called the Bees, huddle in for a group hug on the last day of their UFI summer leadership program at the Urban Farming Institute.

On August 14, 2026, The Young Farmers Project wrapped up its intensive 6-week program with 10 teenagers including 2 youth peer leaders. We spent our last day cooking together using vegetables grown at the farm alongside the amazing youth from Thornton St. Urban Farm. The day before that, we celebrated Mass. Urban Ag Week where youth hosted interactive workshops and then received citations from Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley's team. It was a very proud moment for all of us, especially since our trainees in the Farmer Training Program received their certificates as well. We are really going to miss the energy, curiosity, and new perspectives that the youth brought us this season.

There were sooo many highlights and stories from this memorable summer, but we wanted to share a page from our summer yearbook. When asked while working on community projects, "How do you value yourself at work?", this is what they said:

A page from the 2026 Young Farmers Project yearbook with participant remarks that show that young people are caring, community, resilient, proud, and creative.

Thank you so much for your dedication and commitment to YFP and we hope you come back again!

Hay, it’s been a fun ride!
